Another successful youth ENTREPREUNER

Young Credit Outreach Program Recipient Steve Hardy and his parents Howard and Virgene Hardy are members of the Shoshone Bannock Tribes. They make their home in the beautiful Bannock Creek area on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation. Steve comes from a family of lifelong farmers and ranchers.

Last summer Steve Hardy was 12 years old when he applied and obtained a FSA Youth Loan. Steve wanted to enlarge his current cattle herd. This spring 13 year old Steve bought three pairs and five yearlings with his youth loan increasing his herd to 22 head.
Howard Hardy is proud that his son is eager to follow his footsteps in the cattle business. Steve showed his enthusiasm this spring by tending the cattle ranch when Howard needed some downtime. Howard stated that Steve was so excited and couldn’t wait to learn how to run the farm equipment. Howard will continue teaching Steve how to run the farm equipment this spring and summer.

Steve wishes he had more peers in the farming and ranching business.
Steve is also an accomplished writer having an article of a school trip published in the William Thomas Middle School newsletter and the Sho-Ban Tribal newspaper. We look forward to reading Steve’s stories of riding the range in the future newsletters.  Way to go Steve, we’re counting on you to succeed!!!!
